Things I miss.

“Things I miss.”
a rough poetic sketch in reflection of time at home.

12:20 a.m.

a home.
2 parents, 2 cats, 1 brother.
the 309 area code &
a fridge stocked with harris & boetje’s.
occasionally herring, pickled or wined.
christmas lights on clothes-line, mid-july &
friends dropping by
to say hello, or
more often good-bye.
& though the economy
is american common enemy,
a home is always a good buy.
better yet – best buy
fire-sale right after thanksgiving,
going to goodwill & taking
tagged items to checkout,
checking out toothless woman behind the counter.
count her among the few. behind poor eyes –
a smile.
