“Hymn for the fallen.”

You Pushers, You Patriots, harken:
the church dirge-bells toll.
once
for our Leaders,
once
for the people,
once
for the heroes,
once
for the nameless, and
once
for the lost.
no one mourns the somber sound, simply celebrates Progress.
what’s one fallen for one step forward?
in the name of Mankind, no less.
seems wrong the way You say it –
it’s the roots You’ve wronged.
Man is not kind.
You leave countless
nameless
and lost
behind,
then ring a pretty bell just
once.
may these words capture that toll
before it falls silent
to Your ears
forever.
So, a couple of nights ago a few of my good friends came over to my place. I’d purchased a bag of army men a few days earlier… and, well, in this company let’s just say we took on a collective personality equivalent to Cid from Toy Story. In the morning, our play told quite the sad tale – sad enough that I recorded it in both image and words. To my friends Sam, Holly, and Bob: revel in what we’ve done. And cheers. Without our collective madness that is the Swedish Coffee Hour Club – none of this would be possible.
